For the 12th consecutive year, Milliken was named to the World’s Most Ethical Company list. Milliken has received this award every year since the award was first given in 2007, and is one of only 12 companies included on the list each year. This recognition is unique because it is a result of the collective actions and behaviors of Milliken associates everywhere.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as a values-based company among other prestigious organizations,” shares Milliken & Company President, CEO and Chairman, J. Harold Chandler. “We consider a commitment to a disciplined and consistent culture of ethics and fair play to be a competitive advantage in the global marketplace.  Our 7,000 associates are grateful for the recognition extended to our company.”

The Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, awarded 135 honorees—spanning 24 countries and 57 industries—this recognition. Measuring and improving culture, leading authentically and committing to transparency, diversity and inclusion were all priorities for honorees.

Milliken & Company completes the extensive application each year in the fall and is then assessed based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient® (EQ) framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized manner.

The information collected assesses core competencies centered on five categories:

  • Ethics and compliance program – 35 percent
  • Corporate citizenship and responsibility – 20 percent
  • Culture of ethics – 20 percent
  • Governance – 15 percent
  • Leadership, innovation and reputation – 10 percent
